Chaoni Huang is the Head of Sustainable Finance and Transition, Asia, within HSBC's Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) business. Based in Hong Kong, she leads the development and execution of HSBC's Sustainable Finance and Transition strategy across the region, supporting clients in their decarbonisation efforts and facilitating the growth of critical transition ecosystems and emerging climate technologies.
With two decades of experience, Chaoni has held several sustainability-focused leadership and client-facing roles in Asia Pacific. Prior to HSBC, she led sustainable capital markets at BNP Paribas, and before that, Natixis. She also led the business development efforts for Trucost in Asia, a climate analytics company which S&P Global acquired.
Her work has been recognised with a number of industry accolades, including being named 'Best Sustainable Finance Banker in HKSAR' by FinanceAsia in 2023 and receiving the 'Excellence in Sustainability' award at the 2024 Women in Finance Asia Awards.
Beyond HSBC, Chaoni is an Executive Vice President of the Hong Kong Green Finance Association and also appointed by the Hong Kong SAR Government as a member of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Financial Co-operation Committee, Maritime Services and Development Committee, and the governing board of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Chaoni holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Warwick.
